Game & Fish/State Police ALC Sub-Committee Meeting Concerning Arkansas State Parks and Municipal Parks Firearms Carry.
The Arkansas State Police and Game & Fish ALC Sub Committee met today with the Arkansas State Parks and the Attorney General’s office. The Discussion was about carrying into Arkansas State Parks. This has been a hot topic following the recent murders in Devils Den State Park. There has been a lot of misinformation going around about State Parks firearms carry. Today they affirmed our information that we have provided to Arkansas gun owners for years. State Parks are not restricted from carrying a firearm (permitted or non-permitted) however, there are exceptions such as with the ECHL or (for non-permitted) without a round in the chamber may carry into park buildings.
Another note to be mindful of is, State Parks located on Corp of Engineer property such as Degray. While the State portion isn’t restricted crossing Corp property is restricted.
Carrying in Municipal Parks was also discussed, and again they affirmed our publicized information was correct. Permit holders may carry into Municipal Parks but are restricted if there are events in the park. Non-permit holders may carry into parks and are Not restricted if events are going on.
